Recipes

The recipes on the site are a combination of my own creations, along with inspiring and tasty recipes that I have discovered from other chefs and cookbooks along the way. There are so many amazing cooks and resources out there, I don’t think there’s any shame in using another recipe if it works well. Some culinary gems are not worth reinventing!

You will currently find a lot of vegetarian recipes, although I am actually a carnivore. I have only just broken the meat-on-Sunday tradition, but I eat a lot less meat than I used to for financial, health and environmental reasons. But carnivores – don’t despair! There will be more meat recipes to come!

Please note this website is in its infancy, but I will be uploading many more recipes and photographs as soon as I can.

If you do try any of the recipes, or simply have any comments or questions, then I’d love to hear from you. If you have a specific cooking question, then I’d be delighted to help. Just ask me….

Inspiration

My food influences are far-reaching and, like a lot of cooks, draw on a wealth of different cuisines and inspirations to produce simple but tasty dishes using as many seasonal British ingredients as possible. I particularly love Thai, Moroccan and Spanish cuisine, but I’m always eager to try new food and flavour combinations.

Food philosophy

I lean towards healthy, vibrant food, but that is not to say I won’t say no to cooking and tucking into a hearty oxtail stew served with a heap of butter-laden mash, occasionally. My food philosophy is to eat as much variety as possible and balance the unhealthy indulgences with the healthy, with a bit of exercise thrown in. Not exactly ground breaking! So the chocolate biscuit binge on the sofa will mean I try to be virtuous the following day. This way of eating means I eat very well and have never been on a diet in my life. OK, a mini-one after Christmas, but that’s it!

I like food that makes me feel good and I believe healthy eating doesn’t have to be dull. We are blessed with such a rich larder of wonderful ingredients in the UK, it’s easy to create tempting dishes that are nutritious and delicious too. The recipes you will find here are what I love to eat – simple food that is big on taste.
